US to Australia Fellowship brings bright researchers to Australia

Master of Science (Earth Sciences) student Sam Boone has received a Sir Keith Murdoch Fellowship to pursue his studies here in Australia.

Awarded by the American Australian Association via the US to Australia Fellowship program, the Fellowships enable some of America’s brightest researchers to pursue advanced studies in Australia. Fellowships are awarded for postgraduate and postdoctoral research in fields like medicine, technology, sustainability and engineering.

Currently studying at the University of Melbourne, Sam’s area of research interest is in geoscience, where he is investigating a fossil sub-basin geothermal energy system I the Archean-Proterozoic Gawler Craton of South Australia.

Sam received his undergraduate degree in physics from the University of Massachusetts. There he also received the SOAR scholarship from the School of Engineering.
