Doctor of Optometry
Country: Canada

"I studied a Bachelor of Biological Sciences at the University of Guelph, and was interested in a career in the health sciences. In the fourth year of my undergraduate degree, I had the opportunity to shadow my aunt, who is an optometrist, and thought that it’d be a good career path for me."

"I chose the University of Melbourne because of its good reputation, and its No.1 position in Australia in international rankings. The University is also the only one in Australia with a graduate optometry course, so it looked like the place to go."

"The help we get from our teachers here is first-rate, and they really want us to succeed. “After I graduate from the Doctor of Optometry I would like to practise here in Australia for a while, before returning to Canada."

"My advice to students looking to study overseas is to keep your options open and don’t limit your search to one course, one city or one country!"
