Burnley campus

The University of Melbourne acknowledges that Burnley campus is located on Wurundjeri land.

Teaching at Burnley

Students choose from short courses, associate and bachelor degrees, graduate studies and research. We specialize in training for urban landscape management, nursery and cut flower production, landscape design and construction, park management, turf management and arboriculture. At Burnley students have the opportunity to experience the theory and practice of horticulture, and engage in application of the latest industry technologies, ranging from computer aided design to thermal imaging.

Burnley’s horticultural graduates are sought by employees and continue to make major contributions to this growing industry.

Research at Burnley

Research activity at the campus is rapidly expanding and is well known around the world. Burnley is the base for collaborating scientists who are developing an Australian focused green infrastructure program. Strategic planting on valuable free space, such as the roofs and walls in our cities, is set to transform the urban environments of the future.

Burnley leads the way in researching the application of vegetation techniques for climate change adaptation, and our experts consult with councils and developers, including the City of Melbourne and City of Monash council chambers, to initiate green roof installation in Australia.
